Welcome to Myngles
Myngles is a social platform built on a simple idea: you should be the customer, not the product. We don't sell your data, we don't show you ads, and we don't manipulate your feed to maximise engagement. Instead, we charge a small subscription fee to keep the lights on.
These terms explain the rules of using Myngles. They're written in plain English because we actually want you to read them. By using Myngles, you agree to these terms.
1. The Basics
Who can use Myngles: You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under 18, you should have permission from a parent or guardian. By signing up, you confirm you meet these requirements.
Your account: You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything that happens on your account. Use a strong, unique password. If you think someone else has accessed your account, let us know immediately.
Accurate information: Please provide accurate information when you sign up. We need your real date of birth (to verify age) and a working email address (so we can contact you if needed). You don't have to use your real name publicly if you prefer not to.
2. Free and Paid Accounts
Free accounts can browse public posts, view profiles, search for users, and follow pages. This lets you see what Myngles is about before committing.
Myngles+ accounts ($1/month or $10/year) unlock everything: posting, commenting, reacting, sending friend requests, joining groups, creating groups and pages, and private messaging.
Payments: Subscriptions are processed through Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your settings — you'll keep access until the end of your billing period.
Refunds: We don't offer refunds for partial subscription periods. If your account is suspended or banned for violating these terms, your subscription is cancelled immediately without refund.
3. Your Content
You own your content: When you post text, photos, or other content on Myngles, it remains yours. We don't claim ownership of anything you create.
Licence to display: By posting content, you give us permission to display it on Myngles (that's kind of the point). This licence ends when you delete your content or account.
Responsibility: You're responsible for what you post. Don't post things you don't have the right to share, and don't post content that violates our Community Standards (see section 4).
4. Community Standards
Myngles is meant to be a place for genuine human connection. To keep it that way, certain content and behaviour isn't allowed:
Illegal content: Nothing that's illegal in your jurisdiction or ours (UK).
Harm to children: Absolutely no content that exploits or endangers minors. This is a zero-tolerance policy with immediate permanent ban and report to authorities.
Harassment and threats: No bullying, threats, intimidation, or targeted harassment of individuals or groups.
Hate speech: No content that promotes hatred or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
Spam: No automated posting, fake accounts, misleading links, or commercial spam.
Impersonation: Don't pretend to be someone you're not, especially public figures or Myngles staff.
Misinformation: Don't deliberately spread false information that could cause real-world harm.
This list isn't exhaustive. We reserve the right to remove content and accounts that damage the community, even if not explicitly listed here.
5. Moderation and Enforcement
Reporting: Anyone can flag content they believe violates these terms. Flags are reviewed by group/page owners and our admin team.
Actions we may take: Depending on the severity, we may remove content, issue a warning, temporarily suspend your account (1, 3, or 7 days), or permanently delete your account.
Banned accounts: If your account is permanently banned, you may not create a new account. We block the email address associated with banned accounts.
Our discretion: Moderation decisions are made at our discretion. We try to be fair, but we're human and won't always get it right. If you believe we made a mistake, you can contact us.
6. Limitations and Liability
The service: Myngles is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it running smoothly, but we can't guarantee it will be available 100% of the time or be completely bug-free.
Other users' content: We don't pre-screen content. You may encounter content you find offensive or inaccurate. We're not responsible for content posted by other users.
Liability cap: To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before any claim.
7. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email or a notice on Myngles. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.
8. Ending Your Account
You can leave anytime: You can delete your account from your settings. We'll remove your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
We can terminate accounts: We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, or for any other reason with reasonable notice.
