Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Promise
Myngles exists because we believe social media doesn't have to harvest your data to survive. We collect only what we need to run the service, we never sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and what rights you have.
1. What We Collect
Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address, date of birth, display name, and username. Your date of birth is used only to verify you're old enough to use Myngles — it's not displayed publicly.
Profile information: Anything you choose to add to your profile — bio, location, website, profile photo, cover photo. This is all optional and visible to others as you configure.
Content you create: Posts, comments, messages, reactions, and any images you upload. This is stored so you and others can see it.
Connections: Your friends list, groups you've joined, pages you follow, and people you've blocked.
Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID but never see or store your full card details.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, and device information. This helps us keep your account secure (e.g., detecting suspicious logins) and fix technical problems.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the service (show your posts, connect you with friends, etc.)
- Process your subscription payments
- Send you important notifications (password resets, security alerts, policy changes)
- Keep your account secure
- Enforce our Terms of Service
- Improve Myngles (understanding how features are used, fixing bugs)
What we DON'T do: We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't build advertising profiles. We don't use your content to train AI models. Full stop.
3. Cookies
Myngles uses only essential cookies required for the site to function. We do not use any tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies.
What cookies do we use?
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID |
Maintains your login session and remembers you as you navigate the site | Session (deleted when you close your browser) |
__stripe_mid__stripe_sid |
Used by Stripe for secure payment processing and fraud prevention | 1 year / 30 minutes |
Why don't we ask for consent?
Under GDPR and ePrivacy regulations, strictly necessary cookies do not require consent — only disclosure. Since we only use cookies essential to provide the service you've requested (logging in, making payments), we inform you of their use rather than asking permission.
Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. However, disabling cookies may prevent you from logging in or completing payments. Most browsers allow you to:
- View what cookies are stored
- Delete individual or all cookies
- Block cookies from specific or all sites
- Set preferences for certain types of cookies
For instructions specific to your browser, visit your browser's help section or allaboutcookies.org.
4. When We Share Your Data
We share your data only in these specific situations:
With your consent: When you post publicly, you're choosing to share with the world. When you message someone, you're choosing to share with them.
Payment processing: Stripe processes your payments. They have their own privacy policy and are bound by strict data protection regulations.
Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect safety.
Business transfers: If Myngles is acquired or merges with another company, your data may transfer. We'd notify you beforehand.
5. Data Storage and Security
Where: Your data is stored on servers in the United Kingdom/European Union.
Security: We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and protection against common attacks. However, no system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password.
Retention: We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except where we need to keep it for legal reasons or to prevent abuse (e.g., banned email addresses).
6. Your Rights (GDPR and Beyond)
You have control over your data. Here's what you can do:
Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you.
Correction: Update or correct your information anytime in settings.
Deletion: Delete your account and data. Some information may be retained as described above.
Portability: Request your data in a standard format to take elsewhere.
Objection: Object to certain processing of your data.
To exercise these rights, go to Settings > Privacy, or contact us at privacy@myngles.com.
7. Children's Privacy
Myngles is not for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we discover we have, we'll delete it immediately. If you believe a child under 13 is using Myngles, please contact us.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email or a prominent notice on Myngles. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when changes were last made.
